The 1st phase of new units for the Altair development went on sale in July (‘Altair One’), this £70 million development on the plot just off Oakfield Road and behind the tram terminal have been long awaited and very controversial! The 1st phase will comprise 59 one and two bed units, created by Nikal’s Hillcrest Homes, prices start from £158,750 for a one bed and £261,250 for a two bed. The 2nd phase will comprise a further 85 apartments. The development will also accommodate office space, cafes, restaurants and retail.
South Trafford’s Health and Wellbeing Center is now under construction on the former Hospital site. This building will accommodate a new library, GP services, Tourist Info Centre, and Trafford Co-ordination Centre. The site will benefit from a 100-space underground carpark. This project is due to be completed by summer 2018!
We also have the £18million Alderbank development underway on the old YMCA plot, this is located at the junction of St. John’s Rd and Ashely Rd. The site will comprise 34 luxury apartments and 6 mews houses. The internal fit out is expected to take place in 2018.
A referendum is being held to decide on plans for Altrincham town centre, this was decided in June and will take place on 19th of October. The Neighborhood Business Plan (NBP) proposed amendments for improving the area, allowing for more residential and commercial development as well as alterations to the public realm. The main areas looked at are; Integrated Car Parking Strategy; Digital Infrastructure Strategies; Development of a comprehensive development scheme/masterplan; Green realm proposals; Management of Historical Assets/Conservation; and looking at revision to the current town center boundaries.
